Welcome to our music site!
We like to think of ourselves as the best big band at the lake.
That’s because we are probably the only big band at the lake. The band was formed as a hobby band in the late 1980’s by a group of musicians who love that big band sound and needed to play.
Are we pros? Well, not exactly, but some of our members have played professionally. Our members are business people, doctors, teachers, high school and college students and retirees who love music and love to have a good time.
Our library consists of close to 500 tunes and is in the tradition of the Big Band era. We have performed for a variety of audiences around lake area who also love to listen and dance to the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, etc.
We rehearse the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Kent Memorial on Highway 5 in Sunrise Beach, MO.
Our members are from all areas of the Lake of the Ozark region, Lebanon, Jefferson City and Springfield, MO. At full strength the band consists of 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxophones, bass, drums, guitar and piano. The band is open to new musicians to fill existing vacancies or serve as backups for members who have to miss an occasional gig.
Are you are new to the Lake, miss playing the great old music and looking for a musical outlet? We would be glad to meet you. Don’t worry if it has been a while since you’ve played. Just dust off your ax (instrument) and stop by some Thursday evening.
The band is available for business functions, wedding receptions and fund raisers. For more information, please contact Michael Conour at 573-280-2806 evenings after 6pm. However, if I’m out blowing my horn, please leave a message.
